QA Engineer

Skillwell helps the world’s leading companies measure and develop skills to drive business performance. Employees apply workplace skills in realistic scenarios while the simulation platform measures their strengths and gaps.

Our story began on the campus of Trinity College Dublin, where a passionate group of PhD researchers saw the potential of immersive simulation for learners to unlock their true potential, rooted in skill mapping and demonstrating skill adoption through real-life scenarios. Our continued focus on a data-driven methodology has paved the way forward for Skillwell’s game-changing skill development and verification. Our simulations address topics across leadership, sales and service processes, compliance, onboarding, and risk. Skillwell brings a wealth of behavioral science to the creation of these engaging, impactful simulations that can help develop real-world, business-critical skills.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a QA Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust automated testing frameworks for complex, high-impact software systems.

You’ll play a key role in embedding quality across the development lifecycle, leveraging Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD) practices. Working closely with domain experts and engineers, you’ll ensure our products meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and user value — all while fostering a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.

As a QA Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with domain experts during Discovery and Specification Workshops to define clear, testable acceptance criteria through real-world examples.

  • Formulate and automate BDD scenarios that accurately reflect business rules and verify software quality against its requirements.

  • Develop and maintain automated acceptance tests to validate system behavior and prevent regressions.

  • Plan and execute regression testing for iterations and releases, ensuring high product stability.

  • Troubleshoot and analyze complex issues, working collaboratively with developers and product teams to identify root causes and validate fixes.

  • Identify opportunities for test automation and process optimisation to improve QA efficiency.

  • Monitor build health and support Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines to maintain deployment quality.

  • Mentor peers and promote QA best practices, contributing to a shared culture of learning and technical excellence.

Requirements

Required:
  • 5 years of hands-on software testing experience across the full testing lifecycle.

  • Proficiency with Gherkin syntax for defining and structuring acceptance criteria.

  • Strong experience with Behavior-Driven Development tools such as Cucumber, JBehave, or Serenity.

  • Hands-on experience with test management tools (e.g., Xray) for creating and tracking test plans and reports.

  • Solid understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices, ideally using Jenkins or similar platforms.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to guide and mentor team members.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Desirable:
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and continuous delivery environments.

  • Exposure to Test-Driven Development and collaborative practices such as pair or ensemble programming.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.

Benefits

  • 100% remote work

  • Uncapped commission structure with accelerators for exceeding quota

  • 100% coverage for employees medical, dental, and vision benefits

  • 401K and company match
